Significant Enhancements for Search Released in Data-Planet

The Data-Planet development team has worked their magic and released several enhancements to Search in recent weeks. In particular, optimizations have increased the speed of search and reduced server response time. You’ll also notice improved precision and recall in the results retrieved.

Additional enhancements include:

• Search results filters have been fine-tuned to include Subject Terms, Source provider of the database, Database where the search result is found, and Level of Geographic Detail.
• We’ve also added a Time Period slider, which allows users to easily focus in on a specific time range.
• It is now possible to narrow searches by more than one Subject Term, as in the example below, where the original result set has been modified to restrict results to records that have been assigned the Subject Terms “Small Businesses” and Loans.”
• You’ll also find that it’s now possible to clear any or all of the selected filters.  When you add a new filter, you get a new Clear <selection> line below a Clear All option. The Clear All option quickly removes prior selections made from the available filters.
