Data-Planet Transitioning to HTTPS on October 1, 2017

by Data Planet ™ on 2017-09-08T12:03:00-04:00 in About Data Planet | Comments

Access to Data-Planet Statistical Datasets and Data-Planet Statistical Ready Reference will automatically redirect from HTTP to HTTPS on October 1, 2017.

All calls made to or will redirect to or, respectively.

We advise you to update your access settings to the secure HTTPS protocol on or after October 2, 2017, but it is not necessary. We also recommend an update to your EZProxy configuration settings, specifically adding an HJ line of text, as defined in the Data-Planet config.txt available here.

Please note that with this change, it is necessary for all subscribing institutions that use EZProxy to have an SSL certificate installed on their proxy server in order to provide access to remote users.

Many database vendors have already made the transition to HTTPS and our expectation is that Data-Planet subscribing institutions will already have this SSL certificate installed.  If not, we encourage you to contact OCLC as soon as possible to request an SSL certificate for your proxy server. Information on obtaining and installing an SSL certificate can be found here.

We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers that do not currently have an SSL certificate installed. We believe the enhanced security provided by the https:// protocol will be of benefit to all users. Please contact us at with questions.
