Accessing Your Data Planet Administrative Account

SecureCenter

Data Planet has migrated all administrative portal access, including COUNTER R4 and COUNTER R5 usage statistics and reporting, to SecureCenter as of March 31, 2019. The direct URL for SecureCenter is https://securecenter.sagepub.com.

There will be a dual access period from March 31, 2019 through May 31, 2019 on both the Data Planet Administrative Platform (http://statisticaldatasets.data-planet.com/dpUserAdmin/) and SecureCenter. However, there are some important things to note:

After March 31, 2019, all changes will need to be made via SecureCenter and the Data Planet administrative accounts will become read-only.  Account administrators will be able to view but not edit the following within the Data Planet Administrative Platform accounts:

On the Profile Tab:

  • Username, first name, last name, organization, phone number, IP ranges, passwords
  • Users will be able to view usage

On the Branding Tab:

  • Logo and logo related options

On the Links Tab:

  • Links (including any previously entered menu names and URLs),
  • Administrators will not be able to save new links, or clear existing links.

After May 31, 2019, all Data Planet administrative account information and usage statistics will only be available via SecureCenter, and the administrative accounts will no longer be accessible on the Data Plant platform.

Custom Display Settings

Adding Institutional Logo & Custom Links

Select the Accounts icon in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, then go to the Account Detail tab. Within the Administrative Information section you may add your institution's logo to appear on the Data Planet interface. 

After selecting the Accounts icon go to the Account Detail tab then scroll to the Custom Settings section to add up to three links to the Help menu on the Data Planet interface. Links can be added for email, blogs, chats, websites, etc.

Here is where your logo and custom links will appear when your users access the Data Planet interface:

Contact Information

After logging into SecureCenter, select the Accounts icon in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. From there, go to the User Profile Detail tab. Within the Contact Information section you can add your name, address, and phone number, as well as update your password. You may further customize in the Custom Settings section, by adding your job role, subject of interest, and job title.

Institutional Authentication

Select the Accounts icon in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, then go to the Account Detail tab. Within the Authentication section you may review your institution's lP Address Ranges, Athens Organization ID, Shibboleth or OpenAthens Entity ID, Referral URLs, and Barcode Patterns.

Viewing Usage Statistics

COUNTER Release 4 & COUNTER Release 5

For definitions of the usage statistics reported in Data Planet, please see Usage Statistics Reporting Practices.

Follow these instructions to retrieve your Data Planet COUNTER R4 and COUNTER R5 usage statistics. For Data Planet usage prior to April 1, 2019, please use the COUNTER Reports Release 4 options. For any usage occurring after April 1, 2019, please use the COUNTER R5 report list.

  1. Go to http://securecenter.sagepub.com
  2. Enter your account administrator Username and  Password and click Log In
  3. Click on the Reports icon from the left-hand menu bar
  4. To pull usage prior to April 1, 2019:
         Under COUNTER Reports Release 4, click Export Historical Data in the upper right corner
  5. To pull usage after April 1, 2019:
         Use reports listed under COUNTER R5
  6. Select the report you wish to run
  7. Enter the start date and end date for the range you wish to see
  8. Click Refresh and the report will appear on your screen

You now also have the ability to export this report as csv or tsv into Excel. Simply click Export Report and choose the desired format.
